IN MEMORIAM: Irfan Horozović

“There are those who read and understand nothing. They are the most numerous.

There are those who have read and think they have understood. They are the most dangerous.

And there are those who understand and do not stop reading their own text.

They are the most precious and the rarest.” (I. Horozović)

With sadness and respect, we remember Irfan Horozović, one of the most significant writers in the history of Bosnian and Herzegovinian literature, who passed away on 2 December 2025, in Sarajevo.

Horozović’s passing has deeply touched the literary and cultural community of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and his colleagues, friends and numerous admirers say goodbye with sadness and gratitude to this native of Banja Luka who wrote and left a deep literary mark on this region.

In addition to Banja Luka and Sarajevo, Horozović’s life paths also connected him with Zagreb, where, after graduating from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb, he continued his literary work.
