In the Oktogon of the National Museum of Modern Art in Zagreb on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, Federal Minister of Culture and Sports Sanja Vlaisavljević opened the exhibition of academic sculptor Stjepan Skoko entitled “Measure of the Sea: Oktogon NMMU”. The exhibition presents an ambient installation that the artist originally designed and realized for the participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the jubilee 60th Venice Biennale in 2024.
Speaking about Skoko’s work, Minister Vlaisavljević emphasized the importance of such artistic projects for the cultural scene and intercultural cooperation, as well as the uniqueness of Skoko’s exhibition, which, despite the different Scylla and Charybdis, has been recognized both in Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond.
The project was carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the University of Mostar, and is accompanied by a bilingual catalogue in Croatian and English featuring an introductory text by curator Branko Franceschi.
The exhibition opening was attended by the Secretary of the State Office for Croats Abroad, Zvonko Milas; the Croatian Minister of Culture and Media, Nina Obuljen Koržinek; representatives of the cultural and diplomatic community, as well as art enthusiasts.
