Employees of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports participated in the seminar on the importance of translation in the process of European integration

The seminar “Language and Translation as an Indispensable Element of the European Integration: Experience of the Republic of Croatia in Translation of Legal and Sub-legal Documents in the Negotiations Process” was held in the premises of the Directorate for European Integration on 14 October 2024 as a part of the project to support the process of European integration in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The seminar was conducted by the experts from the Republic of Croatia, Tatjana Pantić Mikulić and Mirna Gudlin. Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mladen Glavina, emphasized in his opening address that the real job in the entire process of European integration was the work of translators. During the seminar, multilingualism was highlighted as an extremely important element of European competitiveness, since it was enabling the protection of the sovereignty of the member-states. The experts from the Republic of Croatia also presented the process of organising the translation in the languages ​​of the candidate-country in the process of negotiations and the process of translating negotiations documents in English.

On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, the seminar was attended by the Adviser to the Minister, Anita Vlašić and the proof-reader and Coordinator for the European Integrations, Bjanka Alajbegović.
