On Wednesday, 10 September 2025, the programme “Kreševo in Sarajevo” was held on the Promenade of Culture in Sarajevo within the manifestation “Days of European Heritage Days 2025″. In an environment that combines the rhythm of the city with the spirit of tradition, visitors had the opportunity to get to know the wealth of cultural heritage of Kreševo, a place that has been nurturing spirituality, crafts and customs for centuries.

At the beginning of the programme, the guests were greeted by the Mayor of the Municipality of Kreševo, Boris Marić, who proudly presented the small town of Kreševo, great in history, culture and tradition.

“We communicate with Sarajevo on daily basis and therefore, it is very important that we are present on this cultural scene as well, to present what we have and what you can see when you visit Kreševo.” – said Mayor Marić.

The guests were also greeted by the Federal Minister of Culture and Sports, Sanja Vlaisavljević, who expressed her immense joy at having the opportunity to present our dear, beautiful, wonderful cities, their cultural values, customs, and everything they have to offer us, and invited the guests to enjoy the programme.

In the first part of the programme, which was designed as a meeting of the past and the present, the Mixed Choir of the Croatian Cultural Association “Napredak”, the Kreševo branch, led by Marija Pervan, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, performed, as well as the Folklore Section of the ”Napredak” of Kreševo with the choreography “Hello, hello, guys from Kreševo”.

The aromas of local delicacies, the sounds of traditional instruments, and colourful stories from the Kreševo region created an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness. Visitors had the opportunity to see the handmade jewellery and other handicrafts made by women from Kreševo from the “Napredak” Section “UdruŽene Kreševke”. A unique presentation of blacksmithing – shoeing eggs – attracted great interest. This skill, which is inscribed on UNESCO’s Preliminary List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of BiH, was presented by young Mateo Ivičević, and some of the braver visitors to the Promenade of Culture even tried to shoe an egg themselves.

The musical part of the evening brought a special atmosphere. The Duo Harmonika, the Kreševo Tambura Orchestra and the Mixed Choir of the HKD “Napredak” performed, and their performances of tambura compositions filled the Promenade with music that knows no boundaries. The audience enthusiastically followed every note, joining in the song, and the offered traditional Kreševo dishes perfectly fit into this atmosphere.

The programme “Kreševo in Sarajevo” showed that cultural heritage is not just a memory, but also a living presence that shapes and connects us, and that culture lives where we share it – honestly, openly and with pride.
