In 2024, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports provided support to the Youth Association “Council for Initiative and Development” from Goražde through the Youth Transfer. The project, titled “Make the Use of Your Free Time”, aimed to raise awareness of serious social issues among the young people. One of the key activities of the project was the “Femicide” workshop, held on 16 November 2024. The workshop brought together a large number of young people, who had the opportunity to learn about the problem of femicide, the seriousness of this social problem, and ways to fight violence against women. Through this activity, the participants gained significant information about the prevention of violence, as well as about the rights and protection of victims.
The above-mentioned project is another example of the Ministry’s commitment to giving contribution to the construction of a safer, more equal and fairer society through support to civil society, with a special focus on educating and sensitizing young people on topics related to domestic violence, equality and human rights.
Furthermore, in 2024, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports also provided support to the “Dignitet” Association through the Youth Transfer, which, in addition to dealing with youth issues, has been actively engaged in the prevention of domestic violence and violence against women. Although the Ministry was not able to directly support the projects of this association related to violence against women in financial terms, it recognized the importance of their involvement. Through their work, organizations like “Dignity” strive to reduce violence, provide support to victims, and raise awareness of this important social issue.
Also, in 2024, the Ministry provided support to the “Obala Art Centar” Association within the Transfer for Culture of Importance to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the key activities of this Association was the screening of the film titled “Gym”, which was shown at the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival. The film deals with the topic of violence against women in a specific and emotional way, exploring the deep psychological and social aspects of this problem.
This projection was supported through the “30th Sarajevo Film Festival” project, an international festival of a competitive nature”, which is financed by the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports. Through this project, the film “Gym” was given the opportunity to be shown to a wider audience, which contributes to raising awareness of violence against women and the importance of prevention.
Through the aforementioned support to associations and through their projects, the Ministry continues to provide support to initiatives that contribute to the fight against domestic violence, the promotion of gender equality and human rights. Through such activities, the Ministry contributes to building a safer and fairer society for all citizens, with a special emphasis on the protection and support of vulnerable groups.
