At the reception held on 15 January 2025 at the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, in the office of Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević, emotions outweighed protocol. The occasion was a special one: a meeting between the Minister and young swimmer Esma Dizić, a girl whose talent, hard work, and courage are already writing new pages of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sporting history.
Last year, Esma broke the records of Lana Pudar — a symbol of Bosnian swimming and a role model for generations of young athletes. Although still a child, Esma has shown the maturity, dedication, and composure of a champion. Her results are not just numbers on a scoreboard; they are a message that dreams in Bosnia and Herzegovina can be achieved through effort, faith, and the right support.
A member of the “Aqua Fit Sarajevo” Swimming Club, Esma arrived at the Ministry accompanied by her greatest support — her coach, Bakir Hadžiahmetović. He spoke about her impressive achievements, including 15 broken records in the younger cadet category, the training process they carry out at the pool of Sarajevo’s Hotel Hollywood, as well as the many financial challenges they face on Esma’s already remarkable sporting journey.
Minister Vlaisavljević congratulated Esma on her successes, which, as she emphasized, go beyond sport and represent hope and inspiration for all children who are just stepping into pools, halls, and onto tracks. The doors of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, she noted, will always remain open for Esma. On behalf of the institution and in her own name, she expressed full support for the talented young athlete, highlighting the work of the Sports Foundation, whose mission is precisely to provide scholarships for young talents and support their training paths.
The reception ended with smiles, warm wishes, and the feeling that we are witnessing the beginning of a great story. Today, Esma Dizić is a girl who breaks records; tomorrow, she may become a new name representing Bosnia and Herzegovina on the world’s biggest sporting stages.
