After 15 Years, the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Begins Its Work

As part of continuous activities aimed at improving youth policies and their more active involvement in decision-making processes, on the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Constituent Session of the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held on December 17.

During this year, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports initiated the adoption of the Regulation on the Establishment of the Youth Council of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the appointment of Council members by the Government of the Federation of BiH, thereby creating the institutional prerequisites for the start of its work.

The Youth Council represents a permanent professional, intersectoral, advisory, and coordinating body of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, established with the aim of coordinating and harmonizing youth policies at the level of the Federation of BiH.

Its composition includes equal participation of representatives of federal institutions and representatives of the Youth Council of the Federation of BiH, making it the only body at the Federation level in which young people directly and equally participate in the promotion and protection of their rights. The Council has a total of ten members, five from federal ministries and five from the Youth Council of the Federation of BiH.

Federal Minister of Culture and Sports Sanja Vlaisavljević emphasized that the formation of the Council represents one of the key steps in the full implementation of the Law on Youth of the Federation of BiH, which the Ministry is carrying out with the aim of improving the position of young people and increasing their representation in decision-making processes. Minister Vlaisavljević expressed confidence that the Council will significantly contribute to strengthening the role of young people in society, as well as to better coordination and harmonization of youth policies in the Federation of BiH.

President of the Youth Council of the Federation of BiH, Adis Salkić, highlighted the importance of establishing this body, stressing that it represents a legal obligation of the Federation of BiH, whose formation has been awaited for a full 15 years. He stated that the establishment of the Youth Council has created an important mechanism of institutional dialogue between young people and the authorities, which will contribute to the creation of higher-quality and more effective youth policies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
