ACTION PLAN OF VISITS BY THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF CULTURE AND SPORTS: Visit to the Association National Committee ICOMOS in Bosnia and Herzegovina

As part of the Action Plan of visits to beneficiaries of approved funds, the Head of the Department for Institutions and Associations in the field of culture within the Culture Sector of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, Sanja Arnautović, on December 9, 2025, carried out supervision of the implementation of the project “Architecture in My Neighbourhood – A Walk through Sarajevo’s Modernism (1918–1940) – Phase 6: Route F – Northern Slopes of the City”, organized by the Association National Committee ICOMOS in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was supported by the Ministry’s funds.

The project “Architecture in My Neighbourhood” is a multi-year research and educational program that affirms, documents, and brings closer to the public the architectural heritage of modernism in Sarajevo. The implementation of Phase 6 – Route F is focused on buildings and ambient ensembles located on the northern slopes of the city, with the aim of their valorisation and inclusion in broader cultural and educational content. The event will be held on December 20, 2025.

By the time of supervision, the following activities had been carried out:

  • Field research of buildings included in Route F
  • Archival research of relevant documentation and historical sources
  • Cooperation with partners, associations, and experts
  • Creation and conceptualization of an architectural map, which will be presented during the project’s realization

During the supervision, the submitted documentation and preparatory materials were reviewed, confirming that project activities are proceeding in accordance with the plan and contractual obligations.

Upon completion of the project, the beneficiary will submit to the Ministry the complete narrative and financial documentation, in accordance with applicable procedures and deadlines.

The project “Architecture in My Neighbourhood – A Walk through Sarajevo’s Modernism” represents a valuable contribution to the research and popularization of Sarajevo’s architectural heritage, raises awareness of the importance of its protection and interpretation, and strengthens the role of cultural heritage in contemporary urban life.
