8 April – International Roma Day

The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports proudly celebrates International Roma Day, a day dedicated to preserving the identity, language, culture and traditions of the Roma people, as well as raising awareness of their contribution to society. This date, established in 1990 to commemorate the First World Roma Congress held in London in 1971, reminds us of the universal values of freedom, dignity and equality.

Romani music, literature, dance and art have woven vivid threads into the cultural mosaic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond for centuries. Their creativity and heritage testify to the strength of diversity and the richness of shared life.

On International Roma Day, we acknowledge the Roma community and remind ourselves how important mutual understanding and solidarity are. Culture is a bridge that connects people, and Roma culture teaches us that beauty is in diversity.

The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports confirms its commitment to the development of an inclusive society in which the rights of all citizens are respected. We pay special attention to supporting projects that promote education, artistic creativity and the preservation of the traditions of minority communities.
