Theater is not a mirror in which reality is shown, but a hammer with which it is shaped.
Bertol Brecht
World Theater Day is celebrated every year on 27 March with the aim of highlighting the importance of theater art and its contribution to society. This important date was established in 1961 by the International Theater Institute (ITI), and today it is celebrated around the world through various programs, performances and cultural manifestations.
Throughout history, the theater represented a space of freedom of expression, critical reflection and artistic creativity. It combines different artistic disciplines – acting, directing, scenography, music and literature – creating a unique experience that encourages the audience to think, emotion and dialogue.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, this day is celebrated through a rich program in theaters, cultural centers and educational institutions, which further affirms the domestic theater scene and its contribution to the preservation of cultural identity.
World Theater Day is an opportunity to recognize all artists and cultural workers who with their work, they contribute to the development and promotion of theater art, but also to remind the audience of the creative energy and inspiration that the stage brings.
