20 March – International Day of Happiness

Happiness is a universal right: it is the goal and measure of the progress of society.

(UNESCO)

The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports joins in marking the International Day of Happiness, which is celebrated every year on March 20, in accordance with the decision of the United Nations to recall the importance of happiness and well-being as universal goals of humanity.

Happiness is a basic human aspiration, and culture, through art, heritage and creative expression, provides a space in which communities connect, people find meaning, and society strengthens its values.

On this day, we remind you that cultural diversity, freedom of creativity and the joint cultivation of tradition are inseparable from a sense of fulfillment and joy. The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports continues to support initiatives that contribute to a society in which happiness is shared, nurtured and recognized as a common good.

May the International Day of Happiness be an incentive to build an environment together in which everyone feels accepted, valued and fulfilled – because happiness is most beautiful when shared.
