21 March – International Poetry Day

Poetry is the universal heritage of humanity: it opens up space for dialogue, enriches cultural diversity and expresses what is deepest in the human being.

(UNESCO)

The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports celebrates International Poetry Day, established by UNESCO with the aim of recalling the unique power of the poetic word to connect people, express universal feelings and preserve cultural diversity.

Poetry is a bridge between tradition and modernity, between personal experience and shared memory. It reminds us that language is more than a means of communication and that it represents a space for creativity, freedom and beauty.

On this day, we celebrate poets, their voices that shape our cultural heritage and open new horizons. The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports continues to support literary creativity and promote poetry as a precious part of our identity and common heritage.

On the occasion of World Poetry Day, the Ministry of Culture sends congratulations to all poets, writers, translators, publishers and lovers of the written word who contribute to the preservation and development of literary art with their work. Their dedication and creativity enrich our cultural space and encourage new generations to discover the beauty of poetry.

Let the International Poetry Day be an incentive to stop, listen to the rhythm of words and find inspiration in verses that connect and enrich us.
