Institute for the Protection of Monuments: Report on the conducted expert supervision of the restoration and conservation works on the facade of the “National Government Building II”

On 29 April 2026, a coordination meeting was held at which current issues of carrying out restoration and conservation works on the facade of the building were discussed, as well as issues related to the selection of finishing materials and equipment elements.

It was noted that the procedure for selecting the facade color was completed and representatives of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments made the final selection of colors. The basic color code 1288 was adopted, the color of the columns code 1289, while the shade of old white (altweiss) is planned for smaller profiles. The user representatives will additionally review the adopted samples for final confirmation.

The contractor informed the attendees about the possibility of unforeseen works on the western facade, given the extremely poor condition of the central part of the facade with decorative elements, which deviates from the planned rehabilitation measures. A detailed analysis of the current state is underway.

In the previous period, work was completed on the pilasters of the northern facade, work continued on the western side of the building, the workshop production of consoles above the first floor of the northern facade was carried out, and work continued on the cabling of the building’s illumination.
