On 8 October 2026, a representative of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments conducted expert conservation supervision of the work carried out on the “B4K” fortification tower at the Gradačac Old Town.
Following an inspection of the completed works—which spanned more than two years—it was confirmed that the contracted Phase I works had been successfully concluded. The project documentation was designed to allow for a phased execution of works, a crucial feature given the scope of the required interventions.
Conservation and restoration work on the tower included reinforcing the tower’s foundations, repairing cracks in the wall structures, grouting, rebuilding sections of the masonry, installing a steel platform at the top of the tower, constructing a stone access staircase, and other tasks.
These highly complex works were executed to a high standard, in accordance with the project documentation and prescribed preservation measures, using appropriate materials.
Preparations are currently underway to begin work on the façade of the Husein-kapetan Gradaščević Tower and the three gate towers.
