To mark the International Day of Older Persons, the Committee for Gerontology and Geriatrics of the Department of Medical Sciences at the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized a lecture by Prof. Dr. Damir Sekulić—a full professor at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Split—on the topic of physical exercise in older age. The event was held as part of the project “Physical Activity and Communication as a Bridge and Foundation for a Quality Lifestyle for Older Persons.”
The lecture highlighted the importance of regular physical activity for maintaining the health, functional independence, and quality of life of older persons. Special emphasis was placed on the link between physical activity and social interaction; exercising together contributes significantly not only to preserving physical health but also to strengthening social ties, fostering a sense of belonging, and enhancing the quality of life in older age.
Anita Vlašić attended the lecture on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports.
Recognizing the importance of such initiatives for the health and well-being of older persons, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports will continue to support projects that promote active aging, social inclusion, and a better quality of life in the later stages of life.
