Institute for the Monuments’ Protection: Report on the performed professional conservation supervision of the works on the Gazi Husrev-beg hanikah in Sarajevo

The professional conservation supervision was carried out on 20. 4. 2026 in order to inspect the condition of the wall after the application of the protective coating.

After the plaster was completely removed from one transverse wall (the original part of the hanikah), the existing joints were painted and new joints were re-done, a protective coating was applied to the cleaned wall in two layers. It was determined that two layers of coating were sufficient and that the preserved and protected wall was ready for presentation. In this way, it is possible to present the layering of the use of different materials and construction phases that can be interpreted as a stratigraphic cross-section of the history of the building.

The following work will be carried out on the installation of vinyl flooring without disturbing the structure and material integrity.

The construction of wall cabinets for the museum display is in progress and is being carried out according to the approved drawings and details.
