Samira Agić, an employee of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments—which operates within the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports—participated on October 22, 2026, in a one-day online training session titled “Fundamentals of GIS, Databases, Coordinate Systems, and Transformations,” organized by the Civil Service Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ADS FBiH).
Participants were introduced to the fundamental concepts and principles of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), their significance, and their potential applications across various fields, including public administration, engineering, journalism, and architecture. Special attention was given to types and formats of spatial data, the concept of geospatial databases, as well as the basics of coordinate systems and their transformations. The training also covered the use of simple and advanced queries, along with methods for processing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data.
Upon completion of this informative and comprehensive training—through which participants gained new knowledge and a better understanding of how GIS technologies and spatial data can be applied within public administration—certificates of completion were awarded to the attendees.
