Action Plan of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports: Visit to the Citizens’ Association Youth Chess Club “Academy of Champions”

As part of the Action Plan for visits to beneficiaries of approved funding, Adnan Bektić, Senior Expert Associate for International Cooperation within the Ministry’s Youth Sector, visited the Citizens’ Association Youth Chess Club “Academy of Champions” on 16 September 2026 with the aim of reviewing the documentation and activities related to the implementation of the project “Improving the Position of Young People through Chess in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” which was supported by the Ministry with funding in the amount of BAM 5,000.00.

The Youth Chess Club “Academy of Champions” was established in 2019 with the aim of developing and promoting chess among young people, as well as creating quality conditions for their sporting, intellectual, and social engagement.

The primary objective of the project “Improving the Position of Young People through Chess in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina” is to enhance and develop youth chess through the organization of high-quality educational, competitive, and social activities that enable young people from Doboj Istok and the wider region to develop their chess skills, team spirit, and personal competencies.

The project is also focused on encouraging young people’s participation in sporting activities, promoting healthy lifestyles, fair play, and social inclusion. Through chess as both a sport and an educational activity, young people are provided with opportunities for the constructive use of their leisure time, while developing concentration, logical thinking, responsibility, and mutual respect.

During the visit, representatives of the Association informed the Ministry’s representative about the implemented project activities, the objectives achieved, and the overall results of the project. On that occasion, the beneficiary confirmed that the project had been fully implemented in accordance with the planned activities and objectives.

Following a review of the available documentation and the information presented during the visit, it was concluded that the project “Improving the Position of Young People through Chess in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina” had been fully completed and had made a valuable contribution to the development of youth chess, the active involvement of young people, and the promotion of sporting values, healthy lifestyles, and social inclusion.

The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports continues to actively monitor the implementation of projects in the field with the aim of ensuring the transparent and responsible use of public funds, while providing ongoing support to programmes that contribute to youth development, their active participation in sporting and social activities, and the creation of quality opportunities for their personal and social growth.
