Organized by the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, a program on the occasion of the International Day of Monuments and Monuments entitled “Speaking Monuments – Heritage as Identity” was successfully implemented, which brought together relevant experts in the field of protection and promotion of cultural and historical heritage.

The program served as a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and ideas, with a special focus on contemporary challenges and perspectives in the field of protection of monuments and monuments. Federal Minister of Culture and Sports Sanja Vlaisavljević emphasized the strategic importance of investing in the preservation of cultural and historical heritage, as well as the need for stronger inter-institutional cooperation.

In her address, the director of ICOMOS, Maja Pličanić, pointed out the complexity of the process of protection and management of cultural assets, emphasizing the importance of a professional, planning and long-term approach to the preservation of monuments, as well as the importance of their adequate presentation to the public.

Expert advisor at the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, Nusret Čolo through his presentation shed additional light on the professional aspects of the protection of cultural heritage, with special emphasis on the “Ottoman Domed Mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, and we remembered how human hands are connected to a pure heart and, in a figurative sense, how important they are for the history of the human race.

Through a meaningful program, numerous questions were raised about the role of cultural heritage in the formation of identity, its social and educational function, and we had the opportunity to witness and attend the exhibition “Počitelj” organized by the Institute for the Protection of Monuments of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports has once again confirmed its active role in marking important dates in the field of cultural heritage, at the same time announcing a series of activities that will be implemented to meet the Days of European Heritage.
