An educational lecture for students of the SSST High School was held in the premises of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, entitled “The Importance and Role of Youth in Preserving Cultural Heritage”. The lecture was given by Martina Marinčić, an employee of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments within the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports.
Minister Sanja Vlaisavljević also addressed the students and attendees, emphasizing that young people are the most important bearers of cultural heritage and identity of a society. She emphasized that it is of particular importance for young people to recognize the value of cultural heritage, but also to take advantage of the quality opportunities offered to them through educational programs, workshops, projects and visits to cultural and historical sites. The Minister said that institutions will continue to provide support to young people so that they can actively participate in the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The lecture was primarily dedicated to the cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The students were also introduced to some of the national monuments of BiH, as well as monuments under UNESCO protection.
The emphasis was on the fact that heritage has educational, social and economic value and that young people have a key role in the process of preserving cultural heritage. Through participation in various programs, workshops and visits to cultural heritage sites, young people actively contribute to the preservation and reinterpretation of cultural heritage.
