Federal Minister of Culture and Sport, Sanja Vlaisavljević, hosted a meeting at the Ministry’s premises with representatives and medal-winning national team members of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Muaythai Federation.
The occasion for this official yet exceptionally cordial meeting was the historic success of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s national team athletes and their medal-winning performances at the recently concluded 2026 European Championships, through which this combat sport once again confirmed its high international standing.
The Federation’s delegation was led by its President, Ante Šimović, while the meeting was also attended by the distinguished international referee Armin Čengić, who successfully officiated at this year’s World and European Championships. The stars of the meeting were the country’s outstanding national team athletes and European medallists: ten-year-old Sofija Miličević (Steel Gym Club, Tuzla), who became the European silver medallist, as well as bronze medallists Hrvoje Ćule from Kruševo (Ludvig Pavlović Club, Ljubuški) and Lamija Zimonić from Sarajevo (KNVZA Club Sarajevo). Also present were national team members Hamza Čengić, a World Championship silver medallist who placed fifth in Europe, and Edin Ćorić, who achieved an impressive fifth-place finish at the European Championships.
The Federation’s representatives and athletes used the opportunity to express their sincere gratitude to Minister Vlaisavljević and the Ministry’s Sport Sector for the support that enables them to participate in major international competitions. During the meeting, the athletes’ outstanding achievements in 2026 were presented, with special emphasis placed on Hrvoje Ćule’s World Championship gold medal and the continuous progress of young talents such as Sofija Miličević, whose ability represents a bright future for the sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister Vlaisavljević extended her warmest congratulations to the entire delegation, stressing that the dedication, discipline, and sacrifices of these young athletes have brought pride to the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was noted that achievements spanning from the youngest age categories to elite senior-level competition clearly demonstrate the systematic and committed work being carried out within the Federation and its clubs in Tuzla, Mostar, Ljubuški, Sarajevo, and Zenica. The Ministry’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to continue monitoring and institutionally supporting the work of the Muaythai Federation, within its capacities, with the aim of providing the strongest possible foundation for training processes and future sporting triumphs on the international stage.
