The construction works on the Ars Aevi Museum of Contemporary Art in Sarajevo was officially inaugurated today. On the site between the National Museum and the History Museum, along Wilson’s Promenade, a cultural entity is being created that will become home to the most valuable collection of contemporary art in Southeast Europe in the next two years.
The vision initiated during the siege of Sarajevo has been waiting for more than three decades to be realized, and is now finally becoming a reality. The project was implemented with the support of the European Union, UNESCO, the Canton and City of Sarajevo, and international partners. The Ars Aevi Museum will be a lasting symbol of identity, creativity, and cultural connection, confirming that investing in culture means investing in the future.
On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, Anita Vlašić attended the ceremony to begin construction work.
