Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Sarajevo Marks Its Day

On Monday, 19 October 2026, the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Sarajevo celebrated its patron saint, St. Luke, and its own designated day with a Eucharistic celebration and a formal academic assembly.

The formal assembly took place in the Paul VI Hall within the Faculty building. It began, as is tradition, with the singing of the anthem “Gaudeamus igitur,” performed by the Catholic Theological Faculty choir under the direction of Rev. Dr. Ivan Rako.

The Dean, Rev. Mario Bernadić, delivered a welcoming address, greeting all those present—including representatives from the academic community and civil authorities—and presented an overview of the Catholic Theological Faculty’s work over the past year.

Greetings were also offered by the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Vrhbosna, Msgr. Tomo Vukšić; the Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Dr. Tarik Zaimović; and the Minister for Science, Higher Education, and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Prof. Dr. Dušanka Bošković.
This was followed by a lecture by Tea Vuglec Mijović, a senior assistant at the Faculty, titled Magnifica humanitas—exploring the possibilities of the human element in the age of artificial intelligence.

The event also included the graduation ceremony for Master of Theology degree recipients, as well as the presentation of the Grand Chancellor’s Award and the Dean’s Award for exceptional academic achievement.
