On 8 September 2026, the representative of the Youth Sector of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, Hanadin Basrić, visited the Association for the Promotion of Culture, Tourism, Art and Sports “Spiritus”, with the aim of monitoring the implementation of the project “11th International Handball Tournament for Young Handball Players (U-12, U-14, U-16) – More than a Game 2026”.

In the period from 4 to 6 July 2026, the association realized the mentioned project. Preparatory activities began nine months before the tournament and included reserving the sports hall, defining dates, making budgets and contacting potential sponsors. Eight months before the tournament, invitations were sent to the clubs, applications were opened and promotional materials were started.

In the following stages, applications were concluded and the competition schedule was drawn up, while judges were hired a month before the tournament, a promotional campaign was carried out, and trophies and medals were purchased. The day before the start of the tournament, registration of participants, technical meeting and preparation of necessary materials was carried out.

The tournament brought together young handball players from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, who were able to exchange experiences and socialize with their peers through the competition. The association also submitted for review media announcements from various internet portals that confirm the promotion and monitoring of the realization of the tournament.

The realization of the project achieved the fundamental goal – providing young people with the opportunity to develop sports skills, exchange experiences and connect with peers from the region, while promoting handball as a sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the visit, the association submitted part of the documentation and reports necessary to justify the realization of the project. Given that the tournament ended immediately before the visit, the remaining part of the documentation, including the financial report and accompanying financial documentation, will be submitted by the Association in the next period, after the completion of the documentation.

The project leader, Saša Matović, thanked the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports for the support and trust, stressing the importance of supporting projects that enable young people to actively engage in sports, gain new experiences, socialize and develop sports and life skills. He particularly emphasized the importance of continuous cooperation with the Ministry in order to improve sports activities and create better opportunities for young people.

The tournament, in addition to the promotion of sports and the active participation of young people, also contributed to the promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a sports center of the region, both during the tournament and through the continuous promotion of sports activities throughout the year.
