Representative of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports at the “Sarajevo Cycling Forum”: Support for the development of cycling infrastructure and sustainable tourism

On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, Marko Komšić, attended the online “Sarajevo Cycling Forum”, held at the UN House in Sarajevo. This important gathering, jointly organized by the World Bank and UNESCO, brought together decision makers, representatives of international organizations, financial institutions and professional networks from the region.

The forum served as a key platform for dialogue on the improvement of the long-track cycling infrastructure, with a special emphasis on Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans. The topics in the center of attention were:

the role of cycling in supporting sustainable mobility and achieving climate goals,
strengthening of regional cooperation and development of the local economy through active tourism,
presentation of successful models of cross-border investments in green infrastructure.
Special attention during the Forum is devoted to the presentation and discussion of regional initiatives, including the transnational greenway corridor “Giro di Ciro”. This project, which is being developed with the support of the European Union and the World Bank, has been highlighted as a leading example of successful cross-border cooperation and strategic investment in sustainable development.

The development of cycling infrastructure has been recognized as an important factor in improving the quality of life of citizens, but also as an exceptional potential for positioning Bosnia and Herzegovina on the map of sustainable tourist destinations in Europe.
