The Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports conducted the selection process for the representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2027, confirming its commitment that the international representation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is based on expertise, transparency of the process and the excellence of the selected projects.
After a successful public call for the selection of the concept of work, commissioner and curator of the Pavilion of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 20th Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2027, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports has chosen the University of Mostar – Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geodesy with the project “Continuity of Coexistence” in partnership with the University of Sarajevo – Faculty of Architecture as the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mladen Kustura was proposed as project manager/commissioner, and Erdin Salihović as curator.
It is a project that, according to the assessment of the expert commission, met the criteria of the Public Call to the greatest extent and offered a modern, innovative and internationally relevant concept of representing Bosnia and Herzegovina. The quality of the project confirms the creative potential of the domestic architectural scene and the ability of Bosnian authors to participate equally in the most important world cultural events.
In accordance with established procedures, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina to carry out the prescribed steps and forward the proposal to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina for consideration and confirmation of the selected representative of BiH.
Federal Minister of Culture and Sports Sanja Vlaisavljević highlighted that this process represents a significant institutional step forward in strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina’s international cultural presence, and expressed particular satisfaction that the University of Mostar and the University of Sarajevo are the first representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Venice Architecture Biennale in the country’s recent history.
