On Thursday, 22 October 2026, the Fifth International Librarians’ Conference, titled “Libraries for a Better Tomorrow,” was ceremoniously opened in the hall of the Mostar National Theatre. The event is organized by the Mostar Public Library, which is marking 80 years of operation this year.
This year’s milestone gathering of librarians from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the surrounding region focuses on contemporary challenges in the field of librarianship, the application of new technologies, and the exchange of professional expertise. Through expert presentations and discussions, participants will explore topics such as the role of libraries in modern society, the preservation of cultural heritage, the promotion of reading, and the application of artificial intelligence within library services.
During the opening ceremony, the Mostar Public Library presented a certificate of appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports for its support of the library’s work and development. The certificate was accepted on behalf of the Ministry by Anita Vlašić, Advisor to the Minister.
